When it comes to dieting very few things have been debated as much as “carbohydrates vs fat.”

Most experts are taught that increased fat in the diet is a leading cause of all kinds of health problems, especially heart disease.

This originated from a flawed study done in 1958 by a man named Ancel Keys.

Even though recent studies have showed this not to be true this is still the position held by most experts.

If you look at the U.S. population as a whole you can almost guess how many people are on a low fat diet or on no diet at all.

My guess would be a little over 70% of the U.S. population.

That is about how many are overweight or on at least one prescription drug.

Yet authority sites still put out misleading fact such as “High-fat diets are associated with increased risk of several serious medical conditions including obesity, cancer, and heart disease.”

Funny when all the studies comparing low fat diet to a high fat diet the high fat diet improved health much more than the low fat diet.

By keeping you on a low fat diet the diet industry will never have to worry about you not needing one.

Do you know what the word “diet” originally meant?

It used to mean a set amount of food that is limited.

Used in prisons back in the 14th century as in “bread and water diet”.

Not too far from the truth when describing today’s use of the term diet.

Deprivation and punishment are words you might use to describe a low fat diet.

I explore the many diets on the market. I looked at the USDA Myplate diet, diets high in protein low in fat and the high fat low carb diet plans.
