More good news for the low carb high fat diet is in the study in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2003 which compared a low carb high fat diet to a low fat diet in severe obese individuals.
The low carb high fat diet also lost 12.8 lbs while the high-carb group lost only 4.2 lbs. Triglyceride levels also decreased by 20% in the low carb high fat group versus only 4% in the low fat group.

This study shows that by following a diet blueprint that is low in carbs and high in fat may actually be highly beneficial for people with diabetes and increased insulin resistance.
